We have turned the corner into September without a stutter. I’m looking ahead to many new and recurring opportunities this fall!

A big reason to celebrate this season is the opening of my cello studio! I have secured a lovely space above Inter-City Violin Studios to host lessons and rehearsals. With this move, I also have increased capacity to teach! I am accepting new students ages 10+ at all experience levels. Do you have a youngster looking grow and advance their practice? Maybe you are returning to the instrument after studying years ago or picking up music for the very first time… I would love to work with you 🙂 for more information, check out my Cello Lessons page or send me an email at chelseambanks@gmail.com.

September

In September, I’ll be performing with my pal Nicholas Allen (bass) at Flora Bodega Event Space in Paseo. This space is dear to my heart as a community hub for creativity and joy. Nicholas and I actually helped open the space last year for their first event! This show is special to me because it will feature a range of styles and musical ability. Plus, how often do you get to see and hear a cello/ bass duo? Seated tickets are available now for $15 and some standing room will be available as space and capacity allow.

Also in September, Sticks and Stones will be wrapping our last month as part of RiSE – the Retail Incubator for the Shopkeeper Experience, hosted by Independent Shopkeepers Association and Citizens Bank of Edmond. This has been a worthy experiment, giving us an opportunity to try a new market and host our goods in a semi-permanent location. We will return to our pop-up roots throughout the rest of the season, stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, members of This Land Yoga can shop our special “Shop In Studio” location in the lobby of the studio.

October-December

In October and November I’m so excited to host TWO chamber music concerts at 1515 Lincoln Gallery! October 10 will feature another unique pairing, where Scotty Scott (viola) and I will bring you super cool c-string forward music. Some of the tunes on our list are Beethoven’s Duet with Two Obligato Eyeglasses, Caroline Shaw’s Limestone and Felt, and Walter Piston’s Duo for Viola and Cello. November 14 will be primarily a solo show, with a few of my best musical friends and contemporaries. These concerts will be made possible with the support of community. If you are interested able to support through a sponsorship, please contact me to discuss details.

In November and December, holiday season gigs will be in full swing! I will join Vienna Light Orchestra for the 3rd year in a row, this time performing on 5 of their dates in the region! You can catch me on stage with this beautiful holiday show in Ft. Worth, Abilene, Oklahoma City, Wichita, and Tulsa.

Thanks for reading and cheers to an active and eventful fall!
